Current Legislation
Maureen's Mission is extremely proud to support the efforts of State Senator Jane Clare Orie of the 40th Senatorial District who has been working on directing the Joint State Government Commission to create a Pink Ribbon Advisory Committee to study the timely detection of breast cancer in Pennsylvania. She has successful completed the final resolution draft. As soon as enough co-sponsors have been acquired, the resolution can be introduced.
Senator Orie intends for the Pink Ribbon Advisory Committee to be comprised of representatives of medical school, teaching hospitals, cancer and breast centers, facilities which perform mammography and imaging technology, the insurance industry, advocacy groups and other interested parties.
The goal of the resolution is to study:
- the state and cost of technology
- the education and training
- the existence of and adherence to guidelines by those who perform screening and interpret results
- the accessibility to professional help for women in rural areas
- the adequacy of reimbursement for first and second opinions
- the need to create a Pennsylvania guideline or standard of care for detection and follow-up
Maureen's Mission is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation dedicated to promoting the early diagnosis of breast cancer through education and the adoption of a Universal Standard of Care.
